Jon Rein is a co-founder and principal of Event Horizon Strategies. He has over twenty years’ experience as an investor and strategic advisor across a variety of industries, including hospitality, gaming, media/entertainment, e-commerce, and real estate, on a global basis. He specializes in making illiquid investments under uncertain and risky conditions.
Jon was a managing director of Cantor Fitzgerald’s private equity/venture capital business, where he had strategy, development, and monitoring responsibilities across a section of the portfolio. Jon was also the head of corporate development and finance for a platform company that invested in, developed, and managed hospitality properties on a global basis, with a focus on emerging markets. He has established and led multiple vehicles that deploy capital and manage assets across the hospitality and leisure sectors.
Previously, Jon was a finance professional in New York, London, and Los Angeles, completing over $100 billion of transactions at firms such as Credit Suisse and CIBC. He began his career in banking working for Eric Gleacher, focused on both middle-market and large, complex, and sometimes contentious corporate M&A transactions, as well as investing Gleacher & Co’s risk capital in transactions.
Jon received his B.A. in economics, with honors, from Harvard, where he was a John Harvard scholar.
